Here is the one-pager Debra offered to pass on. Connections Wellness Group already works its referral sources. Your referral pages speak to primary care physicians, mental health professionals, school counselors and educators. Your preferred-provider program recruits therapists and practices, and you have a business development team. So this page counts them, county by county, across the five Texas counties your clinics sit in. It sizes each group that sends patients to intermediate care, so the question becomes which of them your team reaches today.

It is about relationships with the professionals who decide where a patient goes next. It never reaches patients, and nothing in it involves paying for a referral.

Who sends patients to intermediate care
Eight groups, Texas only, seven of them counted. The groups overlap: one clinician can work in a practice and a hospital at once, and individuals sit inside the organizations counted beside them. Read each number on its own and never add them up.
Pediatricians and pediatric practices
For children and teens, the pediatrician is often the first clinician to hear about anxiety, depression or self-harm, and the one a family asks what to do next. Several of your clinics take patients from age 8, and your accredited schooling starts at the same age.
Who decides: the pediatrician, and in larger groups the care coordinator.

Adult primary care
For adults, the primary care visit is often where depression and substance use first come up, and where the question of a higher level of care gets asked. You already have a referral page written for primary care physicians.
Who decides: the physician, with the clinic's care manager or referral coordinator.

family physicians and general internists, plus about 1,200 primary care clinics registered as organizations.
Psychiatrists
The step up when medication management alone is not holding, and the step down after an inpatient stay. Many work inside hospitals and groups, so this count is people, not practices.
Who decides: the treating psychiatrist.
About 410
psychiatrists, about 60 of them child and adolescent psychiatrists.
Therapists in the community
The largest group by far, and the one most likely to need a step up for a client who is getting worse between sessions. Your mental health professionals page already offers their clients immediate, complimentary assessments, and your preferred-provider program recruits them.

About 9,900
counselors, family therapists, clinical social workers and psychologists, plus about 1,700 therapy practices registered as organizations.
Hospitals
In the emergency department and on the inpatient unit, the next step is set before discharge: home with an outpatient plan, or a step down into partial hospitalization first.
Who decides: the emergency physician or treating psychiatrist, with the social worker or discharge planner who arranges the step down.

Schools
For teens, the school counselor is often the first adult to act, and your academics page asks parents to contact the counselor before admission. Connections Wellness Group has said it has served over 200 North Texas schools. The five counties alone hold about 1,200 public school campuses.

Counseling centers refer students who need more than a weekly session. Your Frisco and Southlake clinics run a young adult track for ages 18 to 25.

Where the openings are

Rockwall and Parker are small enough to cover fully. Each has one clinic. Between them they hold about 510 therapists, about 35 frontline pediatricians and 2 hospitals with an emergency department. That is a list a liaison can work end to end, and it tells you quickly whether a county with one clinic is fully covered.

Tarrant and Collin are where most of the numbers are. About 4,600 therapists in Tarrant and about 3,000 in Collin, against seven clinics between the two counties. There the useful question is which slice your team covers today.

Schools reach teens earliest, and districts are the way in. About 50 districts and a set of charter systems run about 430 middle and high school campuses. A district's director of student services can open the door to its counselors, and the counselor is where your academics page already sends parents.
Built from the national provider registry (the July 2026 file), federal hospital data, and the federal public school and college directories for the 2023 to 2024 school year. Clinicians and organizations are counted by the practice address they registered, placed in the county that holds most of their ZIP code. Hospitals are placed in the county the federal file gives them. A registration proves enumeration only, not that someone is practicing today or takes referrals. Counts are banded deliberately: under 20 exact, then rounded. A group with no honest public count says so rather than showing a number.
